Pick 10 more strudel(s)
10 strudels in a gift box to celebrate the arrival of a baby
The folk custom of the ‘koma’ plate – what we can translate as friend in archaic Hungarian – was alive in the country until the last century. They celebrated the blessing of childbirth with it and ensured that the mother's postpartum period passed undisturbed. According to the tradition, the ‘koma’ plate was not only gifted by the ‘koma’ woman, the godmother of the newborn, but also by the mother's female relatives, neighbours and friends. In addition to the nutritious, meaningful dishes, an important and sweet part of the plate was the special strudel prepared only for this occasion.
